PTSD and Havening

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is where people experience traumatic events, which can make them feel scared, out of control and make it difficult to trust people. Although this is common place in the military, people who have been the victims of abuse or family trauma can also experience PTSD.

Havening is a psychosensory technique, more formally known as Amygdala Depotentiation. It is designed to transform the brain to decode negative experiences and its emotional effects from both our psyche and body. By applying the sensory input of human touch, the technique aims to interrupt and divert the activity in your amygdala, sending you instead to an emotional refuge. It takes away the emotional charge in the bad memories, so that they no longer effect you. After Havening, people tend to feel much calmer and confident to live their life with a more positive mindset.
